The Human Rights League (HRL) wishes you a very happy new year and sends you its best wishes for 2020!

The HRL is an association existing since 2005. It was one of the first associations in Slovakia created to help refugees making Slovakia their home: help them with law issues but also with social integration. Today, HRL aims at helping foreigners to get integrated in Slovakia and participate in its daily life.

Information seminar, January 15 (held in Slovak)
The Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, as the administrator of the program "Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change" ("SK-Climate Program"), supported by the EEA (European Environment Agency) and Norway Grants 2014-2021, organizes an information seminar on announced calls for applications action plans for mitigation and adaptation to climate change implemented by local authorities in urban areas' (ClimaUrban), intended for Slovak cities with a population of over 15 000.

Charity ball in Banská Bystrica, January 17
The Mayor of Banská Bystrica invites you to the Banská Bystrica Charity Ball. If you want to enjoy food and fun, this ball is for you!

Art in corn husks, until January 31
Folk artist Antónia Dvorščíková depicts traditional life in Slovakia with the art of creating figurines from corn husks. She wants to show new generations daily life in years past in Slovakia. She has been crafting corn husk figurines for almost 50 years, and incorporates important but small details in her work.

26th Annual Traditional Matica Ball, January 25
It's ball season in Slovakia, and Matica Slovenská, a group dedicated to preserving Slovak traditions, holds annual balls around Slovakia. To see a traditional ball, you can buy tickets at Cafe Verdon on Hlavná ulica. Tickets include 2 dinners, coffee, non-alcoholic drinks and 1/2 litre of wine.
