Shelter law-making
The publication Shelter law-making analyzes the Slovak Republic's legal response to the massive migration caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine. A comparative analysis and a national report for Slovakia were part of the project Shelter law-making: Legal response to the massive migration caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine, co-financed by the governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund.
The main goal of the project was to analyse the legal actions taken and instruments created by the four Visegrad countries (V4) in response to the large-scale and unprecedented influx of people after 24 February 2022, the outbreak of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Above all, we identified the need to compare the actions taken in individual countries in order to distinguish the recurring solutions, identify those that have failed and select those that proved to be the most effective (good practices).

Analysis of the Situation and Recommendations in
Relation to the Setting up of Asylum, Migration and
Integration Policies of the Slovak Republic
As part of the Migration Compass project, we analyzed the current setting of the asylum, migration and integration policies of the Slovak Republic, as well as current trends and challenges in the field of asylum, migration and integration of refugees and foreigners in Slovakia. In the document Analysis of the Situation and Recommendations in Relation to the Setting of Asylum, Migration and Integration Policies of the Slovak Republic, you can read our findings, conclusions and recommendations. The document is based on many years of experience of lawyers of The Human Rights League, analysis of current events and relevant documents regulating priorities, goals and measures of the state in the field of asylum, migration and integration, recommendations of relevant bodies (FRA, GTC), and last but not least the findings of the Migration Compass project, especially from the conclusions of four round tables with foreigners, which we implemented within the framework of this project, and in which we sought the opinions and recommendations of foreigners.

Addressing Security Concerns in Asylum Procedure
The goal of the project “Addressing security concerns in asylum procedure – a comparative study in the V4 countries”, financed by the
Visegrad Fund, was to provide a comprehensive overview of current national laws and practices in the Visegrad Group countries (Poland, Slovakia, The Czech Republic and Hungary) as regards to addressing security concerns within the broadly understood framework of refugee protection.
The resulting 4 country reports include a description of the national laws and provide examples of best practices and crucial jurisprudence in this regard. As the reports also list recommendations concerning both law and practice, the authors hope that their publication would serve as a basis for developing even more effective mechanisms incorporating security procedures into protection procedures, while upholding the international human rights standards.
The relation between asylum and security has not been subject to comparative research before and thus the project’s innovative report is meant to form a basis for discussing new policies with state governments and raise public awareness of the safeguards in place.
